Remarks & Notes
Soon after arriving off a manifest from Hinkle, Oregon, UP SD9043MAC #8242 was recruited into local transfer service in the Salt Lake City area. The 8242 is the one and only SD9043MAC on the UP today (from a roster of 309 units) to wear the contemporary winged herald on the nose and the zig zag red striping along the hood. UP 8242 was wrecked on 9 August 2000 at Springfield, Colorado. The damage was repaired and unit returned to service on 8 April 2001 with UP's full width nose wings.
