| I think what is most amazing to me about this shot of a ragged 10-year-old CNJ/NJDOT GP40P is that this locomotive is still running today, more than 32 years after I took this shot and 42 years since it was built. The train here is a Conrail run (subsidized by NJDOT). Although it's running with an ex CNJ engine, it's an ex PC train and is bound from NYC to Bay Head. The GP40Ps generally stayed on the old CNJ trains (Newark to Bay Head) at this time, but there were exceptions. |
