| With dynamic brakes howling BN 6473 West exits the West Portal of Cascade Tunnel at Scenic as the crew sees daylight for the first time since entering the bore on the east side of the Cascade Range at Berne. Sets of four SD45’s were common power on through trains across the "Hi-Line" between Chicago and the Pacific Northwest before the massive influx of SD40-2’s and the 80’s recession took hold sidelining many older and less efficient locomotives like these units shown above. |
