After loading at a mine in the DTC Sharples Block at the end of the Coal River Subdivision, CSXT 295 has returned west to the DTC Cloth Block, the junction of the Laurel Fork Subdivision. A small two aspect C&O style dwarf signal is positioned to indicate which position the spring switch is lined. CSXT 295, formerly the "Spirit of Clinchfield" was involved in a derailment, ironically on the same subdivision photographed above in 2006. CSXT 295 was the trailing locomotive on eastbound Danville bound empties when a boulder obstructing the ROW resulted in the derailment of 2 locomotives and nearly a dozen cars.
This is dedicated (with permission) to the skilled and gifted photographer - Chase Gunnoe - who regularly posts and is on staff with RP. I believe he deserves a gallery showcasing his remarkable photos. This is for you Chase! (More great photos to come!)
