A westbound C&O local freight was slowly climbing upgrade at Copeland, VA on April 15, 1973 with GP7s No's. 5845 and 5894. As usual with C&O practice on locals, there were two cabooses on the train, one behind the power and the other on the end of the train. The cement hoppers were destined for the huge Lehigh Portland cement plant at Craigsville. Once a good traffic source for C&O, the plant has been closed for over 20 years.
