Southern Pacific GP9 3353, seen in San Luis Obispo, California, on April 3, 1983, was built in May 1956 as SP subsidiary-Texas & New Orleans 430. When renumbered into the SP system in 1965, it was numbered SP 3552 until rebuilt in May 1972 in Sacramento, at which point the number 3353 was applied. (See? SP's diesels were clean most of the time ... They only got filthy very late in the SP's existence.)
