Remarks & Notes
Abandoned in 1986, this is the railroad "north" portal of Callahan's Nose Tunnel (a.k.a. "Dark" Tunnel) on the former L&N Cumberland Valley Division main just north of Big Stone Gap. The milepost represents 278 miles from Louisville, via Lebanon, KY. The 1.8 mile segment from Big Stone Gap to Appalachia, VA is slated to become a pedestrian trail in the near future.
