Remarks & Notes |
Photo dedicated to JoJo a friend who passed on this day after a long battle with MS. JoJo loved to sing Karaoke and would continue to sing even when she had to be carried to the microphone. You will be missed JoJo. The temperature is hovering near 85 degrees on this hot and humid day as FEC 101 lead by dual former Rail America motors leans into a curve in north Bunnell. 101 was running at at 10 mph speed restriction due to crossing work in town about a mile south of here. It is here where the original FEC main line that ziggged and zagged from St. Augustine to Palatka once split to the west. You can still see the little clearing to the left where the main once rain. Construction of the Moultrie Cut Off in 1926 made for a direct connection between St. Augustine and Bunnell and is the main line we know today. The cut off saved about 20 miles from Jax to Mia. |
