Remarks & Notes
By the mid-1980s, thankfully, W&W had started to paint and/or letter some units. RS-11 No. 351 had received a fresh coat of black with W&W lettering and lettering had been added to the S-6s. In this scene, the eastbound "Sandman" was accelerating after approaching the crossing and seeing the way clear. The "Sandman" crews didn't only have to watch out for automobiles, they also had to watch out for cattle. The right of way was not fenced and cattle guards were in use at the crossings. I have seen the train have to stop on a few occasions to get cattle off the tracks.
