Remarks & Notes
I always wondered what it felt like, after a wonderful vacation in Florida, to wake up, look out the window, and see weather like this. Reality check. Northbound AT-4 was passing by the old general store in Elmont, VA on January 7, 1978, led by battered U36Bs No's. 4002 and 4007. If the frame looks bent on the baggage/steam generator car, it is because it was. By this time things weren't going well for Auto Train. Between derailments and a failed service to Louisville, cash was tight. The frame was bent in a derailment and the car was deemed safe to use. That said, it still didn't instill a feeling of confidence.
