Remarks & Notes |
The Milwaukee was not a major player in the traffic around Wisconsin Rapids although after rebuilding the line from New Lisbon to Wausau for coal trains they definitely had the best track in the area. GB&W was the major player followed by either/or C&NW and Soo...leaving the Road in fourth. The daily Milwaukee freights to/from Wausau normally passed through town after dark and the coal trains often seemed to land fairly early in the morning usually with run through power. About the only Milwaukee daylight train to be counted on was the switch job or Patrol that worked the area powered in the late 70's with a GP9 and then in the 80's with a GP38-2. Here 357 has got some cars together and is about to cut off and run around the train and work south of town. It will return by evening and build a pick up for the eastbound job that will originate at Wausau.. |
