Remarks & Notes
The West Point Route
Beginning in 1896, the Atlanta & West Point Rail Road and The Western Railway of Alabama began using a diamond logo to better enhance their advertising to the public. This diamond logo would soon be seen everywhere on the railroad. From being painted onto the sides of freight cars or to the noses of locomotives, it even began appearing on the railroad's whistle posts along the line. While the original slogan in the diamond would be changed in 1902 to “The West Point Route”, the diamond shape would continue to be used by both railroads for over 70 years until the absorption into the Family Lines System in the 1977.
