Remarks & Notes
Atlantic Coast Line 4-6-2 1640 was one of 165 P-5b Class locomotives built between 1922 and 1926 by the Baldwin Locomotive Works. They were designed as a dual purpose "Pacific" to take over freight and passenger service. They had 69" drivers, 25 x 28 inch cylinders, boiler pressure of 200 lbs, and produced 43,116 lbs of tractive effort. This image from my collection shows ACL 1640 taking a spin on the turntable at the Tampa roundhouse. They were all retired between 1950 and 1953.
