As the sun sets over the mighty Mississippi, a Clinton bound ethanol train rumbles south/east on the Aurora Sub. I knew I had to visit this spot after seeing Alan Craig's shot from this same spot. I was out visiting relatives from Polo,IL and to attend Train Festival 2011. After having driven in from Pittsburgh the same day, we headed up to the park. Since the south entrance was closed we had to enter from the north. At the fourth and final overlook I had found Alan's spot. The wait began. After enjoying the view for ten minutes, I started to get concerned that BNSF was not going to oblige us with a train. A rumble was heard, a look of "could that be a train" was soon confirmed with a whistle. Two minutes later the train was where it was supposed to be and it even had a reminder of home with an NS unit behind the leader. After getting that shot I knew I could go home happy. Thanks for the inspiration Alan.
