A westbound BNSF freight rolls through Lothrop, Montana on Montana Rail Link's 4th Subdivision on the afternoon of August 6, 2011. At the throttle is MRL engineer David Franz, a veteran of MRL, the Dakota, Minnesota and Eastern, the Santa Fe and Eire Lackawanna, as well as the uncle of the photographer. Uncle Dave also had the foresight to wash down the nose of the lead unit and tuck in the air hoses behind the plow, knowing that his nephew would be trackside!
