Unique to the RRVW and TCWR are their use of rebuilt geeps, using Caterpiller brand engines. While they don't sound anything like your regular EMD, they do their job well, and it shows as the engineer has them pegged after receiving a clear signal across the BNSF Marshall Sub at Granite Falls, MN. While soybeans and corn are still alive and well in the area, small grains such as wheat and oats have been harvested, thus prompting another train along the less used west end of the Twin Cities and Westerns former Milwaukee Road main. Remnants of former double trackage can be seen in many locations.
