Remarks & Notes
The Deseret Power Ry in eastern Utah and western Colorado is in the middle of a project to repaint their entire fleet of 4 active E60C’s. So far they have completed two of them; DPR #1 and DPR #4 (formerly NdeM EA012). DPR #1 is their preferred leading unit and the most recently painted. It has been out of the paint shop for a little more than a week. I saw DPR #2 at the railroad’s shop two days ago, August 30, masked off and being prep’d for painting so it won’t be long before their daily train will sport 3 freshly painted units up front. They’re looking great for units built in 1983! Here is the afternoon loaded train, led by DPR #1 leaving the loadout at the loading loop switch. The rest of the train is off to the right in a curving cut that leads back to the flood loader. Prior to leaving the loadout the road crew is brought to the head end by pickup truck, performs an air test and then gets a roll by inspection as they negotiate the switch. If you look closely you can see a short stretch of the inbound loading loop trackage above the first hopper.
