Remarks & Notes
50135 'Ark Royal' seen near Irwell Vale during the East Lancashire Railway Summer 2001 Diesel Gala. The locomotive was repainted into one of the most non authentic liveries possible for Eastleigh Works Open Day in 2009. Loadhaul was one of the 3 transitional liveries applied to freight locomotives during privatisation in the late 1990s after this type had been withdrawn. Loadhaul being Trainload Freight North, a region alien to the class during the latter years of their BR working lives. The numbering from 50035 also reflects a freight locomotive which this example was not. Apart from the nameplate and crest, the only authentic feature of this engine is the fact she failed a matter of hours after this picture was taken and took no further part in the gala, a sad testimony to their troublesome record in main line traffic!
