Remarks & Notes
Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railway train No. 1 is leaving the San Luis Valley behind and is 23" into its journey from Antonito, CO to Chama, NM. Engine class K-36 #489 is pulling seven cars today and has just crossed over Hangman's Trestle near milepost 286. Twice a day, about 142 days each year, a passenger train pulled by a narrow gauge steam locomotive will travel the 64 mile line and cross over this bridge if no major mechanical or weather related issues occur. Quite remarkable in this photographer's opinion.
