Remarks & Notes |
Steamscape - Tanglefoot Curve. Denver & Rio Grande Western #485 works upgrade westbound on Tanglefoot Curve with an afternoon freight bound for Cumbres Pass and Chama. For the first day of his spectacular event, Charter Operator Pete Lerro chose to recreate the only one of the 10 K-36 locomotives which does not survive. Doing so required more detailing than even most of the attendees might have realized. Pete had a new number plate and lighted number boards fabricated in advance. All had to be trimmed to fit on-site. Changing the cab numbers required several hours of effort on the part of Lerro Team Member Mitch Goldman. Once the signage was all in place, Pete then meticulously dusted the entire locomotive with soot and cinders to conceal the recent changes and give it that "well-used" look. The results were pretty amazing. When I finished processing this Tanglefoot shot, it almost looked like a scan from a 1950s slide. |
