Remarks & Notes
A pair of Alaska RR SD70MACs lead a loaded gravel train off of the Palmer Branch at Matanuska Junction, the branch's junction with the ARR mainline. The train will run south of Anchorage to one of the gravel unloading sites where the product will be used in the busy Alaska summer construction season. The nearly constant parade of gravel trains shuttling back and forth between Matanuska Junction and Anchorage makes this stretch of mainline quite busy during summer.

Coal and steel don't go bad. This album features long, slow, heavy freight trains; drag freights, slop freights, dead freights, etc. Trains with lots of power, and lots of different cargo slogging along behind.
