Shoving hard through the interlocking at E.E. White Sulphur, CSX H248, the Ronceverte helper assists 150 loaded coal cars up the grade. The helper will cut off east of Alleghany, Virginia and run back light to Ronceverte. The crew will patiently wait for the next eastbound train above 100 cars, which would not be until nearly 11pm that night. This particular signal will be one of the last to be removed from service on CSX's Alleghany Subdivision. The latest signal suspension project took place between OX Cabin (Moss Run) and Tuckahoe (two signals east of this one). The 2012 project will start in January at Hinton's MX Cabin and work east to White Sulphur Springs.
This is dedicated (with permission) to the skilled and gifted photographer - Chase Gunnoe - who regularly posts and is on staff with RP. I believe he deserves a gallery showcasing his remarkable photos. This is for you Chase! (More great photos to come!)
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
