After several days of heavy snowfall, only some animal tracks are crossing the landscape on 1800 meter a.s.l. on the Rochers-de-Naye. But soon a lonely skier, which just left the train on the request stop of La Perche, will drag his trail through the snow. The picture was taken from the top of Rochers-de-Naye on 2041 m a.s.l., the end station of the rack railway is on 1970 meter. The line with 800 mm gauge and Abt rack system goes from Montreux (395 m a.s.l.) to Rochers-de-Naye. Today the railway is part of the Goldenpass group.
Landscape photography is difficult due to the challenge of combining good light and good scenery. Good railroad photography enters another level of complexity since it requires the first two while there is a train in view.
