Remarks & Notes
Family Days are here again! Union Pacific's last operating E8 locomotive is ready to depart the Salt Lake City passenger terminal grounds for Woods Cross. Prior to the UP-SP merger in 1996, Salt Lake City was an important terminal on the UP system. It featured the big shop complex at North Yard, and employee recognition events were held regularly in August. The 928 was built new for the UP by EMD in July 1950 and was retired from service in July 1980. It would later be donated to the Western Heritage Museum, Omaha, NE in July 1981 where it was stored and unfortunately, heavily vandalized.
