A Union Pacific's 'Family Days' special takes employees and their families for a train ride at North Yard in Salt Lake City. All of the UP real estate was eventually sold, and is now the Utah Transit Authority Warm Springs Shop facility. In the employee parking lot on this particular day are three Ford Pintos, a Chevy Vega, a Volkswagen Fastback and Microbus, a Chevy Camaro, a Pontiac Firebird, a Plymouth Duster, a Ford Gran Torino Station Wagon, a Chevy Monte Carlo, and several Ford and Chevy trucks including a Blazer. The Salt Lake City downtown skyline was less built up back in 1979. At the far right of Capitol Hill is the distinctive Salt Palace Arena (nicknamed 'The Drum') where the Utah Stars played basketball and popular rock & roll bands performed live. The Drum was replaced by the Delta Center in 1991, and was torn down in 1994.
