Near the southern edge of Death Valley, A Trona Railway freight heads toward the UP connection at Searles, California, moments before sunset on March 15, 2004. The train is passing the Pinnacle National Natural Landmark called the “Trona Pinnacles,” and is powered by two SD40-2s and four ex-Santa Fe SD45-2s.
