City by the Bay San Francisco is a beautiful city and we spent a day riding and photographing streetcars and cable cars on March 6, 2003. At the end of the day, we began gravitating toward Fisherman’s Wharf to dine on some seafood. We took the Powell and Hyde cable car route to the Wharf and found this scene. Next to the famous Buena Vista bar and restaurant at the end of the line, cable car No. 15 glowed in the afternoon light, with the conductor standing next to his charge. San Francisco Bay and Alcatraz Island were in the background of the view as a young couple stepped up to the corner of Beach and Hyde, nicely silhouetted by a sunlight-bathed Beach Street. For a brief moment, they embraced under the neon signage of The Buena Vista. Good view indeed.
