Several engines sit in Amtrak's Beech Grove shops on a gray May morning. Right to left: AMTK 155 (GE P42DC), RNCX 1893 (EMD F59PH), RNCX 1755 (EMD F59PHI), and AMTK 196 (GE P42DC). To me, the cool thing about Beech Grove was seeing engines and knowing a bit of back story. AMTK 187 and AMTK 80 were still sitting on flat cars from a wreck in Slidell, LA. However, having seen AMTK 155 twice in the last year and a half and noting its need of new paint, it was great for me to get to see it in Beech Grove with brand new paint. As of Sunday, 5/27/11, AMTK 155 and AMTK 196 re-entered regular service taking the trip to Chicago leading the Hoosier State. Check out my shot of AMTK 155 from December 2010 here. Taken from public property.
