Remarks & Notes
Cumbres Vista. The crew DRGW 485 takes in the afternoon vista from the summit of Cumbres Pass, as they pause just west of Cumbres Station before proceeding down the 4% grade to Chama. Of course, astute observers will quickly spot the tell-tale signs that this is really Locomotive 489, disguised for a Lerro Productions photo freight. The 489 is standing in for the only one of the ten K-36s which did not survive into the tourist era on the Colorado Narrow Gauge. DRGW 485 was badly damaged in a turntable mishap in Salida, Colorado back in 1953 and was dismantled for parts a couple of years later.
