Remarks & Notes
This photo was taken by the late Wiley M. Bryan, of Raleigh, NC. The train is a northbound on the pre-"High Line" grade of the Clinchfield, as it drops downgrade into Johnson City. Besides the two home road Fs, the third and fourth units are leased F-units from the Richmond, Fredericksburg & Potomac. The last unit is a CRR SW-7 deadheading back to Kingsport, where several of these units were based to work the yard and industries there. The 803 was built as an F5, but was upgraded to F7 specs. Note the two rows of vents in the dynamic brake section, which "dates" this particular locomotive. Standard F7s would have an external cooling fan here (such as the trailing F7B).

Do you ever get the feeling as a model railroader, that you just might be creating something not "prototypical?" Same here.
