Remarks & Notes
A trainload of coal from the West Elk Mine at Arco, Colorado, passes by the iconic Castle Rock, which was clearly visible in photos of the early transcontinental railway in the 1860s. Lead engine 5779, a GE-built AC4400CW, is quite a bit different than the 4-4-0s and 2-8-0s and other early steam locomotives that have passed by this rock formation for the past 144 years! However, the name on the locomotives - Union Pacific - remains unchanged.
