Remarks & Notes
A westbound Union Pacific coal train climbs past the siding at Clay, Colorado, on May 29, 2011. The geographic layout of the curves of this scenic former Rio Grande main line that climbs up the front range of the Rockies can be seen in this panorama. Rocky and Little 10 Curve are above the cab of the lead unit in the background, while the windbreak that edges Big 10 Curve is faintly visible on the mesa directly above the large tree. The city of Denver is in the blue haze of distance sprawled out between the two. This is a great place to watch trains battle gravity!
