Almost... Almost... But it wasn't meant to be. As Union Pacific 844 rounds the bend at the American River Bridge in Sacramento, California, it should be just minutes away from tying up after a long journey down the Donner Pass Route. But, she would would not tie up safely in Old Sac until the next afternoon. After a long wye move, 844 was reversing back into old town on the new lead/diamond. The curve became just a little too much and and her back tender wheels derailed. UP eventually got her back on the track but then had the slow process of trying it again. When it was all said and down, 844 made it in to Old Sac, but there was just a little unexpected drama along the way.
