Remarks & Notes
The 1982 NRHS Convention was held in Denver, Colorado. The schedule included an excursion trip from Denver to Sterling and return. Union Pacific 8444 was the power for this trip. Union Pacific Class FEF-3 was built by the American Locomotive Company in December 1944. She has 80 inch drivers, boiler pressure of 300 lbs, 25 x 32 inch Cylinders and can deliver 63,750 pounds of tractive effort. This image shows UP 8444 and her train really smoking it up during one of many runbys that day.
