A crew has finished cutting in a three-locomotive manned helper set into a westbound coal train bound for the grades of Soldier Summit at Helper, Utah, on the frigid night of December 2, 2004. With the air restored, some talk between engineers confirms that they are ready to go and the the big shove begins. Smoke pours out of the once idle helpers as the train storms out of Helper to attack the steep 2.4% grade up Price River canyon with as much momentum as it can muster. Yard lights illuminate the sky-bound smoke as the hard working locomotives pass . . .
