A 21 car California Zephyr train #6 takes an early morning tour of the former D&RGW in Spanish Fork Canyon. Train lengths such as this were common when Amtrak hauled refrigerator cars of perishable produce and box cars of bulk mail on its long distance trains. Apparently hauling freight on Amtrak was less than successful, and the equipment has been sidelined or sold off. Several of the surplus refrigerator cars are today hauling potatoes for the San Luis and Rio Grande based out of Alamosa, Colorado.
