Remarks & Notes |
"Houston we have a problem". On a crisp day in December of 2011, the morning Amtrak train heading to Denver's Union Station had two cars (baggage 1242 and Crew Dorm 39028) jump the track. Here the engineer is sizing up the problem while waiting for the first responders. The train was moving slowly enough through the Denver Yard that it was able to stop after about 100 yards. The scraping sound was deafening (I don’t care to see or hear that again) but luckily there were no injuries. If you look closely you can see the difference between the trucks of the baggage car and the engine. |
