Remarks & Notes
Majestic! That was about the only word I could come up with to describe this extraordinary scene of a steam-powered rotary snow plow and two pusher engines going full tilt in the pristine Canadian Wilderness. The White Pass Rotary Fleet takes the sharp curve at Milepost 23.8, as it heads north toward a scheduled lunch and water stop at Fraser, just about 4 miles ahead. The plow train this day consisted of Rotary #1, Steam Engines 73 and 69 and the cupola-equipped Sumpter Valley Combine #211. The tank-like object behind the trailing combine is just that...a tank. Unfortunately, it's not a water tank, but rather, a diesel refueling station for the Caterpillar Bulldozers that are typically used to clear the railroad of snow every spring.
