Remarks & Notes |
One of the nine Brush built class 92 Co-Co electric locomitives formerly owned by the SNCF for Channel Tunnel traffic No 92 014 Emile Zola passes Ashford with an evening intermodal service from France to the North of England. A total of 46 of these locos were built, with nine for SNCF, seven for European Passenger Services (the night trains to Europe that were cancelled and whose passenger cars are now runnning in Canada) and the remainder for British Rail services through the tunnel to Scotland. To-day many of these locos are stored out of service, the SNCF and EPS examples have been purchased by Eurotunnel with five so far handed over to their subsidiary GBRf. The BR examples passed to EWS and then DB Schenker who have recently transferred three to Bulgaria. The work going on in the background is the construction of the hi-speed line from St.Pancras to the Channel Tunnel. |
