| Wow, I picked the right day to venture back to NY! Not having been in the area since last year I told myself "just go Sunday" and little did I know that heritage unit NS 1072 was making it's way East across NY. After a day of just overcast and snow flurries off and on I first learned of this train checking out a new spot and another railfan showed up to catch it too. I then chased it to Selkirk and the RR Gods had to be looking out for the 20 or so fans there because the ONLY 2 minutes of sun I encountered all day appeared as this train entered the yard. Pretty neat to see such a nice lashup with the obvious leader (track crews were making comments of how BRIGHT it was) on CXST's home turf to boot. Made the 7 hour round trip of driving well worth it even though I woke up to a flat tire this morning too! |
