Remarks & Notes

Recent snow and cold weather have allowed large icicles to form on the portal of the Mount Hope tunnel. CSXT 521 and its train of coal empties from the CSX/R.J. Corman interchange at Thurmond have just struck the large chunks of ice, as they near the completion of their 14 mile trek from the New River Gorge to the Beckley plateau for loading at the R.J. Corman loadout at Pax.
