Remarks & Notes

A sunny New Year's Day 1988 finds Rio Grande's Helper Yard awash in Grande Gold and Black EMDs. SD40T-2 No. 5406 awaits its next assignment spotted on the service track near the engine shop. EMD built the 5406 for the D&RGW in March of 1980. It would be retired by the Union Pacific on Nov. 29, 2000.
