Remarks & Notes
For the old trasandine railway line, the "Andina" loaded down with pots of copper concentrate from Saladillo - Rio Blanco, passes (through 3 tunnels and 2 bridges) the spectacular "Salto del Soldado," (soldier jump) geological formation of the erosion caused by the Aconcagua River, much rocky gorge about 100 meters. As data annex, the term "Salto del Soldado" (soldier jump) legend is due to the timing of the Reconquest in which a lone soldier escaped Chilean military forces of the Spanish royalty, heroically jumped this gap, can escape those who pursued. It is estimated that the time gap throat was 3 meters, but not now that is 10 meters wide, making it impossible for a new leap.
