Diesel Electric Rail Motor No.58RM hauling guards van ZLP16 shunts to the dock platform at Muckleford to cross the regular Victorian Goldfields Railway steam service. The VGR has had a connection with Victoria's mainline network since 2005, but up until this point only a handful of empty transfer moves have used it, with a passenger carrying through move deemed 'too hard.' Since DERMPAV formed a couple of years ago they've been doing a wonderful job of running tours fished out of the 'too hard basket,' with this trip being the first passenger carrying train to run all the way through from Melbourne to Maldon since 1976. The day was a great success and a credit to all involved from both DERMPAV and the VGR.
