Remarks & Notes
The small diesel locomotive, masqueraded as a old steam locomotive, is leaving Dogo Onsen station with the "Botchan Ressha" ("Botchan train" after the novel "Botchan" of Natsume Soseki). The origin: In Matsuyama there was a 762 mm gauge line from 1887 to 1954 (the first railway on Shikoku and the third of Japan), which used steam locomotives from Krauss in Germany. An original locomotive is displayed in a parc in Matsuyama. About 10 years ago the "Botchan Ressha" startet again on 1067 mm gauge as tourist attraction, meanwhile there is a second similar train in service. The locomotive has a replica "Krauss/Munich" builders plate from 1888 mounted.
