Remarks & Notes
It's 06:55 hours and we're high up on the ridge above the Vale of Westbury, walking our dog whilst on holiday. The early morning mists are just beginning to roll back from the fields in the plain far below us. The dominating presence of the Lafarge Cement Works overlooks the former Great Western Railway's main line where once Gooch, Dean, Churchward and Collett locomotives reigned supreme. Now, the efficient glide of class 143s is perhaps not as exciting as the steam of yore, but any train can still make a fine sight in the landscape.
