Impala Platinum is the worlds second largest platinum mine and operates an extensive electrified (3kV DC) rail system serving 14 shafts. Class 8E Bo-Bo electric #3 basks in the early morning light while waiting for clearance to unload its train of 12 hoppers. Photo taken with permission on Tanago's South Africa tour.
