It was snowing briskly as Amtrak's westbound "CZ" was climbing up to Moffat Tunnel and the continental divide on the former D&RGW on March 25, 1984, following the South Boulder Creek. The 9,239-ft. elevation inside the tunnel is the highest point attained by any Amtrak train.
