| See picture #444652 for the head end view of this train. One of two manned helpers assisting BNSF 5876 West cresting the summit of Mullan Pass on Montana Rail Link as a BNSF coal load destined for Centralia, WA exits the west portal of Mullan Pass. The other manned helper is shoving on the rear end of the train. MRL recently shortened the west portal of Mullan Pass account their newly purchased EMD-SD70ace's were shutting down account they were choking on their own exhaust and starving for oxygen. Removing a tremendous amount rock and dirt the MRL moved the west portal eastward about 1000 feet so the new technology of the Ace's could breath easier while lifting westbound trains across the continental divide. |
