Remarks & Notes
An assortment of retired locomotives sit in storage on the south side of CSX's Corbin yard along the former L&N from Corbin to Etowah. The stored locomotives included CSX's infamous SD40-2 No. 8888, a B30-7, GP39-2 and slug, and two original SD40's. Three additional lease locomotives among the pack are in storage, though not officially retired.

There are times when many engines, cars or cabooses are concentrated in a location. Such sites are for storage, economic reasons, active power needs or for rebuilding. For others, wear and tear have brought their usefulness to and end.
